Week one of summer fun.

Summer officially began with the end of the school year
party for all district employees and their families.
We usually opt of of going to the shin-dig because
our kids are usually GROUCHY by 6:00pm. But the
thought of swimming at the Aquatics Center past
bedtime helped them keep their emotions in check -
at least somewhat.

Perry is doing "Dad's School" with the kids
so they don't lose their basic math facts
and reading skills over the summer.
The kids have been good sports about it thus far -
and all their friend's moms are wondering
what time they can send their kids over to
join in on the fun!

On the very first day of summer break Lillie learned
to ride her bike without training wheels.  It's been a
long time coming!  She attempted it when she was
six and had a wipe-out.  She hasn't really tried again.
Two years later . . . She did it and she just won't stop!
She wants to ride her bike every day, everywhere.
So we do.

Looks like I'll be investing in a new bike.
My Univega that I got in high school just isn't what
it used to be.  Sigh.  It's so hard for me to part with
something that has been a part of my journey for such
a long time.  So many memories, so many memories . . .

Pearce is wanting to be as grown-up as the others.
As much as we treat him like a two-year-old he still
continues to move onward and upward.  If they could
only stay little!

We cleaned out the art drawer which didn't cause
as many tears as I thought it would.  In the past
there was much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth
when we threw any art project away.  My kids
are growing up and becoming less attached to their
masterpieces.  It helped that I let them scan them
into the computer . . . even though they were begging
to print them out once they were scanned in.
I think they missed a vital point in the whole
getting rid of clutter concept.

Grandma Hoffman was a saint and agreed to watch
the three amigos while Perry and I celebrated our
anniversary.  She brought over a slip-n-slide to
keep the kids entertained for a bit.  It worked for a
moment.

Pearce couldn't wait to go to Grandma's for a sleepover.
He was packed and ready to go hours before Grandma
arrived at our house for the slip-n-slide.

Perry was a good sport and agreed to escape with me
to Tony's Grove for our 10 Year Anniversary.
Hard to believe it's been ten years!

We didn't even think that there'd still be snow in June.

We meandered around the lake for about an hour
and then headed back down Logan Canyon and
enjoyed the River Walk Trail for another hour.
We are blessed to have such beautiful nature
to enjoy so close to home!

We spent the rest of the evening trying to remember
what it's like not to have kids. What a
splendid evening we had!!  The best part was
sleeping in until 8:30 the next morning. I wish
I could say that Grandma had as swell of a time
as we did.  But, alas, she's still recovering from
dehydration from being outside with them for
hours on end and for being awake all hours
of the night.  Bless her soul.  She truly is an angel.

Here's hoping this next week will be filled
more grand adventures worth remembering.
